Overdue Update

My apologies for the overdue update. It seems I got caught up with Christmas and New Years and the winter blues are setting in so I got a little behind! So to begin, we hope everyone had a great holiday season. This year WM Bell and officers will be blazing a trail of activity! If you thought previous years had picked up momentum, you haven’t seen anything yet. We are doubling down on our fundraising, community involvement, leadership improvement, and continuing effort toward degree work excellence. Now on to the updates, which we have plenty of!

First, we have a Special scheduled for Monday, Jan. 26th in the FC degree at 7pm. One candidate is expected. Congratulations to our other new Brothers we have received since last update!

Then we have the sub sale, and orders are coming due very soon! Have your orders turned in to Ed Goldhardt by Sat. Jan 24th. Note the price for subs has increased to $6.00. Here is the working schedule:

Volunteer work days start at 9:00 am
· January 27, 2015; bag peppers
· January 28, 2015; cut and bag tomatoes/onions/lettuce
· January 29, 2015; assemble subs
· January 30, 2015; deliver subs

VA Visitation is Sunday, Feb. 1st from 1pm – 3:15pm. You can drive yourself or meet at the lodge at noon to carpool. Location is the VA Hospital in Chillicothe. If you haven’t been with us, you’re better off carpooling or following since it is a little hard to explain which building it’s in.

Help support our community by attending the Central Crossing special needs basketball games, all starting at 7pm on the following dates:
Wed. Jan. 28th
Thurs. Feb. 5th
Thurs. Feb. 12th
Weds. Feb. 18th

Polar Bear Plunge:
We are collecting donations at lodge for the benefit of Special Olympics. For each $75 we collect, starting with WM Bell, we will have someone take the “Polar Plunge” happening at the Columbus Zoo. The date for the plunge is Saturday, February 21st. We need the final donations collected by Fri. Feb. 20th. We will join others throughout the district to help make this event a success and prove that the Brothers of this fraternity will do just about anything to assist those in need.

Grand Masters Reception honoring the Grand Master, MWB Steven Cokonougher, will be held at the Villa Milano Restaurant on Saturday, March 14th. The doors will open at 5:00 p.m for social time until 6:00 p.m. RESERVATIONS go through the Lodge Secretary. The deadline for this price is February 21st. After February 21st, the price will be $50.00 per person. The final deadline is February 28th.

14th District Inspections have already begun, and will be extended through June this year. Ours is scheduled for May 18th, 2015 in the EA Degree.

Some other things in the works, besides our usual events: Chili cookoff w/ OES, Open House, Sporting Clays fundraiser, possibly a Grove City-only One Day Class for candidates who desire it, if dispensation can be obtained. Talks are beginning for others as well, so there will be more to follow as this busy year progresses.
