Grove City Lodge 2017 Trip – Gettysburg (June 9-11)

Grove City Masonic Lodge invites you to join us on a group tour of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania hosted by Brother Keith Fields and his wife Lynn.  The trip is design to give a full experience of historical Gettysburg with trips to the National Civil War Museum, Good Samaritan Masonic Lodge, Shriver House Museum, Gettysburg Battlefield and Cemetery, and the Eisenhower National Historic Site.  This trip is open all.

We will depart Grove City on the morning of Friday, June 9th with a stop for lunch (on your own) prior to arriving at the National Civil War Museum.

This museum is the only one of its kind in the United States that portrays the entire story of the American Civil War.

After the museum, we will depart for the Country Inn & Suites for a quick rest and refreshment before heading over to General Pickett’s Buffet for an all-you-can-eat homemade dinner.

On Saturday, June 10th we will start our day with a complimentary breakfast served at the hotel.  After breakfast we will depart to meet new friends at the Good Samaritan Masonic Lodge on Lincoln Square.  After some good fellowship, we will explore the Shriver House Museum to learn about what life was like for a civilian family before, during, and after the Civil War.  Around noon, we will arrive at the Gettysburg Visitor’s Center for a boxed lunch followed by a 4-hour guided tour of the Gettysburg Battlefield and Cemetery.  After the breath-taking journey through the Gettysburg Battlefield and Cemetery, we will be treated to a fine meal at the 1776 Historic Dobbin House Restaurant/Tavern.

Built in 1176 by Reverend Alexander Dobbin as a start to a new life in America for himself and family. Today his home, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is a colonial restaurant where candlelit elegance, superior food in abundance, and gracious service bring back the sights, sounds and tastes of two centuries ago.

On Sunday, June 11th our day will begin with a complimentary breakfast at the hotel before another full day off fun.  In the morning, we will visit the Eisenhower National Historic Site which was purchase by our 34th President in 1950.
